OUR ISLAND GASTRONOMY

OUR GASTRONOMY

Our Island dishes are made with red snapper and other fishes, snails, lobsters and crab and/or snails. Served with coconut milk, plantain, cassava and others. The most famous and traditional dish is the Rondon, which is a kind of casserole cooked slowly in coconut milk, cassava, Yam, fish  and /or  snails and the dumplins(a bread like cake  made up of wheat flour-based), as basic seasoning   Sweet Basil is used and/or other herbs or spices.

We also have a great dish also seen in the coasts of Colombia, known as Fried fish with mashed plantains and coconut rice. This dish is accompanied with salad and/ or fried potatoes or boiled cassava or plantain.

Crab soup is alos one of our dishes here in the islands. It is made up of crabs, prepared in a little boiled water and takeing the fat of the crab to help season it! It is cooked with some coconut milk along with patatoes  or sweet potatoes , cassava, plantain and/ or mafafa (mariajuana). The meat of the crab is plucked out of its skeleton texture by putting it in warm water to loosen it.

CONKS BALLS
This typical dish is more like an appitizar than a dish but we still eat it accopanied with rice in coconut milk, fried mashed plantains and/or fried potateos  and green salad; also with boiled cassava, plantain and/ or mafafa ( mariajuana).
